I believe in fairy tales — the kind where a knight in shining armor sweeps me off my feet. Coming from a broken home, fairy tales housed the hope I clung to. Never in my life did I imagine two knights coming into my life— two knights that wore very different armor.
A rockstar versus a lawyer.
Fast and furious versus deliberate and calculated.
Intense and passionate versus strong and devoted.
Chaos versus stability.
I fell in love with one in the craziness of a concert.
I fell in love with the other in the silence of his compassion.
And now I am Torn Between Two.
TORN BETWEEN TWO: This is my first time reading anything by this author but I have to confess I just had to sign up for this because of that damn cover!! My name is Kat and I am a cover hoe!!
This took me a while to get into, first chapter I didn't connect with the story, it felt like Sam was well under what her age stated her to be, an immaturity level came across, but as my reading progressed I connected with her character after more details of her upbringing came up in the story, I myself know from personal experience what it is like to be a mother to your own mother so I connected with Sam on whole new level of understanding.
From about chapter 2 I got into the groove of the story and I was hooked, I mean hook line and sinker hooked!! Seconds, minutes, hours my world outside of this book ceased to exist, I was living through the eyes of Sam, the highs and lows of being with a rockstar, knowing she was well out of her element, sitting on the edge of my seat for it all to come crashing and burning had me biting my nails, and the love I felt for Josh the other boy in this triangle of epic proportions, my heart and mind at war with each other with the turmoil of wondering who she would choose in the end. Who would be her knight in shining armour?
This author took me on such a wild ride I never wanted to get off, until she kicked me over the edge with the cliffy we're left dangling over!! GAH!! I must also admit I even yelled a bit over the unfairness of it all..
NOW FOR MY REVIEW
TORN BETWEEN TWO: We’re first introduced to twenty three year old Samantha Clarke, a pastry sous chef extraordinaire, who wholeheartedly believes in fairytales and hopes that one day like any fairy tale ever written her knight in shining armour will come rushing in and sweep her off her feet.
Needless to say she never anticipated two men falling for her
Her first knight in shining armour comes in the form of Hawke Calvin from Def Deception the bad boy rocker whom she’s stalked and lusted over for years. This duo met after Hawke finished his concert in Chicago.
In exchange for an autograph he demanded one kiss..A kiss that left her breathless and gasping for more.
He tasted like cigarettes, and one hundred percent bad boy
The attraction between these two is all-consuming, one look, one touch, one kiss, one night of passion led to more.
I had fallen for a rock star and couldn't seem to find my way out of these murky waters.
You know going into this that we’ll be stepping into a controversial love triangle of epic proportions.
A rockstar versus a lawyer. Fast and furious versus deliberate and calculated. Intense and passionate versus strong and devoted. Chaos versus stability.
She meets Josh unexpectedly whilst out shopping for a pair of heels to rival the outfit she’s wearing to a wedding. He was hot, and charming but she didn’t want it to go any further as she’d just shared a night of passion with Hawke and was unsure if it would go any further.
Hawke was rough and sexy while Josh was stable and sweet.
With Hawke, when I was with him, I was on the highest of highs, but when we weren't together. I was on the lowest of lows.
One is dark and intense, the other devoted and charismatic. One calls her sunshine and the other calls her Princess.
To wrap up my review, if you're after a book filled up to the brim with all those feels I highly recommend this book, the angst, the want, need to know who she was going to choose, the anxiety, then this book is definitely worth you one clicking come release day.

I’ve never been afraid of the dark...but that doesn’t mean I wanted to live in it. And maybe everyone wants what they can’t have, but I should’ve thought it over before I accepted the key and unlocked the door to their forbidden world.
Number One is mostly silent. He watches me with them very carefully. His gaze never wanders. His interest never wanes.
Number Two is mostly gentle. But it’s the other side of him I like best. The wild side.
Number Three is mostly reserved. He refuses to cross the line. Even when I beg.
It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That’s it. That’s all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden.
I just didn’t expect to like them.
***** I heard the door open and close and said nothing. And the footsteps coming down the hallway towards the bedroom. I even heard him say, “Hey.” So softly. “You awake?” Like he didn’t want to wake me.
I listened as he stepped into the closet. There was that slick sound a man makes when he pulls his tie through his shirt collar. I heard the unclasping of his watch. The jingle of his belt buckle and the shuffle of his pants as they dropped to the floor.
I even heard his moan as he stood over me. I could feel his shadow from the streetlamp outside like it was heat.
Then the bed creaked, the mattress sank. And his warm, hard body straddled me. Still, I said nothing.
I just buried my face in the sweet scent of the pillow and closed my eyes, feigning sleep.
“Rochelle,” he whispered, leaning over me. His fingertips gently brushed the hair away from my shoulder. His mouth pressed against my skin. “Did you miss me? God, I’ve missed you. Two weeks is too long. We need to renegotiate.”
He nipped my neck. Kissed it. Licked my ear as he positioned himself to begin.
And I said… nothing.
Even though my name is not Rochelle. That’s why I’m here. Tied up and gagged inside the closet. Sitting in the dark as three men on the other side of the door argue about where Rochelle went, why I was in her bed, and what they should do next.
I should be scared but I’m not.
I should be screaming, but I won’t.
Because this just feels very, very right.
And the only thing on my mind is… what will happen next?
TAKING TURNS: is a twisted new series from the talented author J.A Huss, a delightfully sinful read. I’ve read a few of this authors books but this one just looked delicious!! Spoken in multiple POV’S (Cella, Quin, Smith & Bric) which I love, we get to read all the dirty naughty little thoughts running through their minds. This author did a fantastic job bringing these four different personalities to life, each with their own voice brought together as one unity.
Number One is mostly silent. Number Two is mostly gentle. But it’s the other side of him I like best. The wild side. Number Three is mostly reserved.
Going into this I wasn't too sure what to expect, I never expected to love it as much as I did, I never expected to fall so deeply in lust with each of these characters like I did.
This story surrounds Smith, Bric and Quinn each had the perfect set up with their pet Rochelle, then out of the blue with no warning she just ups and leaves after three years of dating them. Now the rules of their contract that they all signed three years ago comes into effect.
They can not look for her She will never enter the doors of ‘Turning Point’ again And If she sees any of the men on the streets neither are to acknowledge the other, no words are to be exchanged.
Only problem is that one man broke all the rules and fell in love with her. But she did leave something behind in her place, a replacement named Chella.
This is where it all starts getting all hot and juicy
It all comes down to the game that’s played out at the ‘Turning Point Club’ amongst three men who have their preferences when it comes to exploring their sexuality and the woman who want to play with them, three hot alpha men that have no qualms when it comes to sharing their woman.
Number One is mostly silent. Number Two is mostly gentle. But it’s the other side of him I like best. The wild side. Number Three is mostly reserved.
The build up to when it comes recruiting thirty year old Cella is slow going but is overall vital to the story and gives us more in depth knowledge of how this game unfolds.
A time table is set up where each man has Cella two nights of the week, Sundays are the only days off she has to herself.
A step into the forbidden, hot carnal filthy sex with three men, when the four are together all rules are non existent.
I watch, fascinated by the world they've created here in the middle of downtown Denver. A secret world. A forbidden world.
Number one is there to deny you. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Number two i there to satisfy you after the abstinence. Number three is there to give you what you really want.
Each player in this game has their own agenda. Each chapter is solely focused on each character.
Quin is handsome in a very different way than Bric or Smith. They are both polished and serious. But he’s the fun version. The wild version. The happy version.
Taking Turns wasn’t solely focused around the sexual adventures of these characters, because each chapter was focused on each characters POV it strikes a deeper connection with these individuals like no other book I’ve read before. This book has been the best I have read by this author, I can not tell you how much I loved it, loved the all consuming deep connection I had with each and every character this book focused on. And like others that have read this book I too can not wait for the next book of this series, this was an epic way to start it off.
And then I reached the end of the book and it ended in a cliffy and left me hanging there desperately in need of the next book in this series..I highly highly recommend this!!

Those were the words I lived by growing up, the words that protected me in an unsafe home. But words are only letters and eventually even they couldn’t keep his hands off me.
Hoping to leave behind the shattered life of my past, I find myself in a boring, small town, with an aunt I’ve never met and at a school I loathe.
But soon I learn, not everything in this world is as black and white as I’ve determined. Sometimes those we are so quick to judge often need a second, third or even fourth time to make a first impression.
And often, there are friendships and even love waiting just around the corner, if we are brave enough to take the first step.
Am I brave?
Or will I hide behind these tattered gloves of mine forever?
This is my first read by this author, usually I tend to not read much of the YA genre but something about this book called to me and I’m glad I took the chance on this book.
This is spoken in sixteen year old Willow Fairchild’s own words, a neglected young teen, a mother with a revolving door of men coming in and out of their apartment all hours of the day and night.
A mantra Willow has had drilled into her head since birth is what sees her through most days
Head down Don’t look up Never make eye contact These were the words I lived by growing up
After a traumatic incident at home we’re introduced to Willow as she’s on a bus heading to ‘Sugar Tree, Virginia, a country town she’d never been to before, to live with her mother’s twin sister Addington, an aunt she’d never known existed. Both thrown together through blood.
I’d grown up in the slums of Washington, DC, and I had the scars to prove it
Willow doesn't trust anyone, through her traumatic experience she endured the only thing that offered her any form of comfort was a pair of knitted gloves, her one saving grace that protected her from the horrors of the world, these never left her hands, the gloves, my armor, keep me at a safe distance from everyone skin on skin, touching another scared her too much.
Cherish your memories, the good, the bad, and everything in between.
She's hoping she can remain invisible in this small town Head down, Don’t look up, Never make eye contact but one thing she didn't count on was her Aunt who had the ability to chip at her walls she'd built up around herself, to two teens Sam and Allison who took her under their wings.
These three became vital to Willow's wellbeing. Slowly she started blossoming, and in the end shredding the one thing that was holding her back 'The tattered gloves' They also became her escape system, because they stopped her for so long of allowing people that cared about her to show her in touch.
I loved these secondary characters, they knew just the right things to say to Willow, when to push with the right questions and when to ease off. Slowly she allowed them to see the real Willow without inhibitions. The author set the pace perfectly in this book, the abuse, the sexual abuse Willow endured was handled sensitively and was just slightly glossed over and not gone into vivid detail. The only thing I felt the book was missing, was life before Sugar Tree, Virginia, I would've loved to have read more in depth of her time endured in the household with her mother.

Her hands are trying to grasp me to roll me over again and get her on top, but I’m not letting her get close. Instead, I pin her to the floor and fuck her even harder. She opens her legs even farther and moans when I take her nipple between my teeth and tug.
I know she likes what I do … but she can’t help always trying to be at the top.
It’s what we do.
Who we are.
And in each other, we’ve found our match.
Her hand reaches between her legs, and she furiously starts masturbating as I fuck her pussy raw. She’s so tight and wet that I lose control, and I close my eyes for just a second to enjoy the sensations.
Only to find me rolling around again and having her end up on top of me. She slams me down on the floor and holds my hand down harder as she swivels around on my cock. She brings her blood-soaked finger to my mouth and makes me suck on it. One of my hands is free, and I use it to flick her clit, making her moan out loud.
A few seconds later, her eyes roll into the back of her head, and I can feel her muscles tighten all around me. Wetness coats my cock, and I come undone.
Howling, I come inside her, my seed pulsing deep into her pussy, just like it should.
She holds my hand in place over her clit, as if to signify that it belongs there. That she’s not only mine, but that I’m also hers.
Breathing heavily, she slowly falls down on top of me, my cock still inside her. She rests her head on my chest, and I listen to her breaths as she listens to my heart. I pet her hair, which is still slick from blood and sweat, and I wonder if this is the best sex I’ve had in my entire life.
“Is it over now?” she mutters suddenly.
I smile as she lifts her head with a curious look on her face. “Yes, it is … and you won.”

I dig. It’s what I do. I’ll literally use a shovel to answer a question. Some answers, though, have been buried too deep for too long. But I’ll find those, too. And I know where to dig—the Blackwood Estate on the edge of the Mississippi Delta. Garrett Blackwood is the only thing standing between me and the truth. A broken man—one with desires that dance in the darkest part of my soul—he’s either my savior or my enemy. I’ll dig until I find all his secrets. Then I’ll run so he never finds mine. The only problem? He likes it when I run.
Author’s Note: This is a standalone mystery/suspense romance with violence and explicit/intense sex. If you need a trigger warning, then this isn't the book for you
Author’s Note: This is a standalone mystery/suspense romance with violence and explicit/intense sex. If you need a trigger warning, then this isn't the book for you.
This is told in Elise Vale’s own words, and is the first book I’ve read by this author, but to say I was intrigued with the reviews had me one clicking this. Blackwood is a stand-alone dark romance/suspense/thriller that will take you on one hell of an unforgettable ride.
Elsie’s is working on her Ph.D in archaeology with one final dig up her sleeve which is located on ‘Blackwood Estate.’ not getting permission of the landowner Garrett Blackwood’s consent to dig doesn’t stop her from doing what she does. I dig. It’s what I do. I’ll literally use a shovel to answer a question. Some answers to questions long buried beneath the dirt, it’s up to her to uncover the truth.
Elsie just recently lost her mother to cancer, digging on Blackwood Estate and focusing on Choctaw culture isn't her sole reason for wanting to dig on that specific location, she's also hoping to uncover the mystery of her father's disappearance and she thinks Blackwood estate is where all her answers lay.
Many warnings come her way about not to venture out into the woods, many say it is haunted, many state that they hear screams coming from deep within. All warnings go unheeded. She has one thing on her mind, and one thing only, and that is to uncover the truth about her father.
Her first solo dig doesn't go as planned, getting chased and attacked in the forest by boars Hooves pounded the ground behind me, at least two of the monsters giving chase as I tried to manage the dark forest. Falling prey to the boars with a gash on her leg and unable to walk has her at the mercy of Garrett, the very man who refused her permission on his land. Now she has to trust him enough to get her back up on her feet again.
Garrett is a thirty-two broody recluse and as the two grow closer together, he awakens an erotic sexual level of awareness Elise has never been subjected to before.
I'm glad I one clicked this to just see what all the fuss was about, the beginning took me a while to get into, was very slow going, but the writing was spectacular, once I got about half way the storyline started picking up for me and it all came at me full throttle and I ended up enjoying the ride the author set me on. It wasn't what I would term as dark, but there was just enough grit to keep me invested in finishing this. A few twist and turns that I never saw coming which I loved, love it when an author can completely blindside you.
