TITLE: The Fall AUTHOR: T. Gephart GENRE: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE CHAPTERS: RELEASE DATE: 23rd October, 2016
Salvation doesn’t exist. It’s a lie people tell themselves in the dark, alone so their conscience might be eased. To give them hope that, in the end, we can all be forgiven. Except we can’t. And no amount of praying will change that. For me there will be no redemption, and I will leave this world with the same black heart I entered it with. The comfort in knowing who I am and what I am capable of keeps me warmer than any lie of having my soul saved. Because I know the truth. Because I know there is no Heaven. And there is no Hell. There is only the fall.
Michael has no one. No family. No Friends. And not a soul in the world cares about him, only a system that tried to break him. With a strong dislike for establishments and conformity, he has lived his life as a rogue. A hired thug with no allegiances except to his own word.
Sofia has grown up in the shadow of her father—one of the most powerful drug lords in the city. She has vowed to bring him to justice, moving through the ranks of the Chicago PD in an effort to be as far removed from her father’s lifestyle as possible.
Two worlds collide when Michael shows up at her door, a gun in his hand and a look in his eyes that terrifies her. Suddenly, Sofia has a price on her head and Michael is the only one who can keep her out of the crossfire.
This will be the first time reading anything by this author so I'm keen to see what kind of journey she takes me on with this book.
THE FALL: We meet Michael in the 'Prologue' orphaned and dropped off at a hospital only a few hours old, due to his mother dying during childbirth, two nuns naming him and proclaiming him abandoned and left in the church's vestibule whilst covering up the death. Thrown into the system, in and out of one foster home to another like a revolving door.
Then the story jumps (30 years later) A job's come up, remove the girl from harm, protect her for a few weeks until the heat dies down.
There is no heaven. And there is no hell. There is only the fall.
She knew it was only a matter of time when the wolf came a knocking at her door demanding payment for the sins of her father.
Sofia a well respected cop a disowned daughter of a King Pin who has made it her mission to take down the criminal underworld her father has his hands in. With a bounty on her head her father hires Michael a natural born killer who kills without remorse, who knows no boundaries is ordered to keep her safe and out of harms way. This job is well over Michael's head, he's never taken a job like this on before.
A hardened criminal and a cop on the run, what could possibly go wrong? A shit ton is what! A shoot out, out running cops, dead bodies piling up, guns a blazing, add grand theft auto and this is sit on your edge of your seat action!!
This was surprisingly good, I love my mafia reads, and this is no exception, I was hooked as soon as I started this, a man fighting the demons of his past, a woman struggling between right and wrong. Both thrown together by circumstance.
TITLE: Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater
SERIES: (King, #5)
AUTHOR: T.M. Frazier
GENRE: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
CHAPTERS: Prologue | Forty-Two
RELEASE DATE: 25th October, 2016
Samuel Clearwater, A.K.A Preppy, likes bowties, pancakes, suspenders, good friends, good times, good drugs, and a good f*ck.
He’s worked his way out from beneath a hellish childhood and is living the life he’s always imagined for himself. When he meets a girl, a junkie on the verge of ending it all, he’s torn between his feelings for her and the crippling fear that she could be the one to end the life he loves.
Andrea ‘Dre’ Capulet is strung out and tired.
Tired of living for her next fix. Tired of doing things that make her stomach turn. Tired of looking in the mirror at the reflection of the person she’s become. Just when she decides to end it all, she meets a man who will change the course of both their lives forever.
And their deaths.
For most people, death is the end of their story. For Preppy and Dre, it was only the beginning…
Bowtie...'till I DIE.
PREPPPY: So this is what we know and have grown to love about 'Preppy'
Samuel Clearwater, A.K.A Preppy, likes bowties, pancakes, suspenders, good friends, good times, good drugs, He LOVES Kat Fenton (Oh my bad) and a good f*ck.
BUT there is so much more to him than meets the eye..
In order to get the best reading experience it's recommended that you read the other four main books in the KING series first. (King, Tyrant, Lawless & Souless). You need to go back and read where we all fell in love with Preppy. Told in Dual Perspectives "Preppy & Dre"
In the 'Prologue' we read that in fact Preppy is alive which is where the previous book left off.
In order to understand where it all went so terribly wrong we're transported back to the PAST (Three Years Earlier). Back to where he was robbed of his plants, back to where he saved a drug addict, back to where he met Dre.
It's just like coming home after a long assed journey, the feels you get as soon as you start reading Preppy's story knocks you for a sixer.
"I'll show him the Preppy special."
"What exactly is the Preppy special?" Bear asked. I made the shape of a gun with my thumb and index finger. "A bullet with a side of bow tie." I shot my finger gun and made my best exploding gun noise with my mouth.
This book will uncover the many layers that make up Samuel Clearwater, A.K.A Preppy, like the peeling of an onion layer upon layer well uncover what makes Preppy tick. Some may think he's an unhinged psychopath, a genius, a killer, a pompous git wearing a bow tie, but peel away more layers and you'll also see a quick witted, loyal, protective man who we all claimed as ours way back in the beginning BUT *whispers* he's really mine!!
It made sense that his body was built for sin. Because the hold Samual Clearwater had over me was something straight from the depths of hell.
His clothes consist of pastels and suspenders, a nerd you'd likely encounter at your local library hunched over a library book, BUT look again, Upon first glance, the guy was as scary as the Easter Bunny. Look again, closer and you'll see more clearly. Until I saw it. It was a spark. Just a glint of depravity lurking behind his amber eyes.
Going into this book and knowing that it's written in Preppy's own words you know it's not going to be light and fluffy, because thats not Preppy though he is a walking contradiction. His past is dark, gritty, and I think that's what Dre and him have in common, her darkness and secrets calls to that side of himself, the side he tries to keep hidden, but now and then you'll catch a glimpse of it.
I never knew true fear until I met pure evil. He wore a smile and a bow tie.
TITLE: Punk 57 AUTHOR: Penelope Douglas GENRE: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE CHAPTERS: RELEASE DATE: 21st October, 2016
“We were perfect together. Until we met.”
I can’t help but smile at the words in her letter. She misses me.
In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.
It didn’t take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever…
And that was the start. For the next seven years, it was us.
Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there’s one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She’s the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.
We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it?
Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name’s Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances?
F*ck it. I need to meet her.
I just don’t expect to hate what I find.
He hasn’t written in three months. Something’s wrong. Did he die? Get arrested? Knowing Misha, neither would be a stretch.
Without him around, I’m going crazy. I need to know someone is listening. It’s my own fault. I should’ve gotten his number or picture or something.
He could be gone forever.
Or right under my nose, and I wouldn’t even know it.
PUNK 57: The story solely focuses on Ryen Trevarrow and Misha Lare an unlikely duo teamed up as pen pals since eighth grade, as part of a class project, even after the school year ended for seven years they've carried the tradition of writing letters throughout college, even though they live within the same city from each other, an everlasting friendship that has flourished through pen and paper.
Now as seniors in high school neither has seen the other in person. A promise not to seek and communicate on social media. Just to keep what they share on paper special.
Until their worlds collide during a scavenger hunt, he broke the rules and looked her up on facebook.
Seven years I’ve known her, but I’ve never seen her face. If I search her out now, there’s no going back.
Three months pass and Misha has stopped writing her, but a new guy has started at her school that pushes her buttons like no other, two rivals who bring out the worst but the best of each other, underneath it all she feels like she knows him.
Sometimes I feel like I know him. Like, really know him. We engage so easily, and even when we're angry, it still feels like it's familiar.
There's a ghost that goes by the name PUNK who breaks into the school and anonymously leaves messages spray painted on the walls of the school
You kissed my hair while sticking me in the heart. But your house will break before I fall apart ~ PUNK
“How do you tell your friend—your best friend—that you’ve been right here, under her nose, playing with her like a puppet?”
I loved this, a unique, refreshing, sexy read, from the minute I started this I was drawn into the story, it was like a puzzle within a puzzle trying to unravel the suspenseful plot that surrounded Mason aka Misha he had so many layers, the hot homeless new guy, the best friend, the sexy times, I was hooked. I couldn't get enough of this book, loved every second, minute, hours I was lost within the pages, for the life of me I couldn't put it down.

TITLE: Written in the Scars AUTHOR: Adriana Locke GENRE: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE CHAPTERS: RELEASE DATE: 20TH October, 2016
Falling in love is easy.
Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.
And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.
The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.
Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.
Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.
When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin's torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.
Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it's their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.
WRITTEN IN THE SCARS: In the 'Prologue - SEVEN YEARS EARLIER' it's been six years they have been girlfriend/boyfriend, High school sweethearts, to seeing these two love birds tying the knot. This is Elin and Ty's story, spoken in 'Dual Perspectives', married for seven years.
Falling in love is easy. Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.
“ love you, Ty. For better or worse. Til death do us part. ”
I'm going into this with a whole feeling of trepidation because I have a feeling I'm going to fall down the hole of stolen tears that the author will bring me to with this book.
“Bruises go away. Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved.”
This starts off in 'Present Time' Ty has just bounced back into town and is having to face the confrontational backlash of the hurt people he left behind.
Slowly you put the pieces of the puzzle together as you're given flashbacks of their demise, small clues that tell the story of the break down of their marriage, from a coal mine accident, to trying to conceive, each putting a nail in the coffin of their marriage, like a domino effect it all comes crashing down around them like a pack of cards.
A realistic account at what can happen when all communication falls through the cracks, if these two had've sat down and talked they wouldn't've gone through all the hurt, the fights, the blame but then what would be the fun in that if we couldn't feel the emotional angst pulling on our heart strings reading the battle of trying to get their marriage back on the right track.
“The foundation of a marriage is love. The walls of shared life are built with trust, loyalty and respect. Once those are torn down, there's nothing left standing. ”
You could almost say this was a second chance romance, mainly for the fact that Elin was on the verge of giving up to the point to see what her steps were with filing for a divorce but love never gives up and love came back knocking at her door asking for forgiveness.
The secondary characters play a big part in this book, a group of tight friends, all facing triumphs and one great loss that will affect them their wholes lives.
From mortal enemies to unexpected allies, two teenagers try to protect everything that matters most.
Ella Harper has met every challenge that life has thrown her way. She’s tough, resilient, and willing to do whatever it takes to defend the people she loves, but the challenge of a long-lost father and a boyfriend whose life is on the line might be too much for even Ella to overcome.
Reed Royal has a quick temper and even faster fists. But his tendency to meet every obstacle with violence has finally caught up with him. If he wants to save himself and the girl he loves, he’ll need to rise above his tortured past and tarnished reputation.
No one believes Ella can survive the Royals. Everyone is sure Reed will destroy them all. They may be right.
With everything and everyone conspiring to keep them apart, Ella and Reed must find a way to beat the law, save their families, and unravel all the secrets in their Twisted Palace.
TWISTED PALACE: These Royals will ruin you!! This is the highly anticipated final of the Royals trilogy. Spoken in 'Dual perspectives' Reed & Ella..This also ends right where BOOK#2 ended, Reed in custody being questioned for Brooke Davidson's death, Reed's father’s platinum-blonde, gold-digging girlfriend.
“Where were you between eight p.m. and eleven p.m. tonight?” “How long were you sleeping with your father’s girlfriend?” “Why did you kill her, Reed? "Did she make you mad?" "Threaten to out the affair to your dad?”
Reed is a Royal through and through and like any Royal he's constantly in trouble, from fist fights to illegal fighting he's always gotten a free pass because of who is is but with the suspicion of murder even his father can't get him out of this bind.
Torn stitches, blood, the fact that he confronted Brooke in the penthouse without telling anyone makes him look guilty.
If Reed pleads guilty for involuntary manslaughter the sentence he'd serve would be nearly twenty years, give or take ten years and he could be looking at only serving five is he keeps his nose clean.
Will Ella wait for him?
[image error]I was proud of being an unfeeling asshole. Is this karma? Is me going to prison for five years punishment for the guys I've beaten, the girls I've hurt?
Is this the end of Reed and Ella??
All secrets will be uncovered at last. Steve O’Halloran Ella's father, risen from the dead.
Where has he been? Why show up now?
Wow where to even start writing up this review, twists and turns which I kind of knew were coming but didn't wreck my reading experience, it just had me racing through the pages to see if I was right and wondering if Reed was in fact going to be serving time in prison for the murder of the wicked witch of the west. There's still a few loose ends that weren't tidied up but I pray that this duo bring us something in the future to put an end to all my questions.
If you haven't read this series god what rock have you been hiding under? This is the best series since sliced bread, in all fairness the first book was my absolute favourite.
