EXCEPTION: Is BOOK#2 within the ‘Heaven Point Duet’ by Mariah Dietz ‘Curveball’ BOOK#1 was Coen and Ella’s story but to understand this you don’t have to read the previous book as they do cross over into this one. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’

In this we meet Twenty seven year old Kennedy Wallace and Thirty-three year old Joey DeLuca. 

What Kennedy didn't expect in life was to be moving back into the family home at Haven Point Virginia with her parents and sibling but it's the only choice she has to get her finances back on track and to pay off looming student loans from her degree even though many moons have sailed since she graduated top of her class in college, she hasn't been able to find any suitable teaching jobs in Boston. But she vows it's only temporary, she'll work at the families hardware store, save money and get her life back on track until a job pops up in Boston. 

Being Haven Points 'Sweet Heart' she feels like she's failed at adulting having to come back with her tail between her legs after many years of being away. 

Detective Joey has been pulled off a high profile case due to becoming too consumed by it and has been roped into helping his younger brother Coen renovate his new home in Haven Point (if you've read Curveball you would've met Coen and Ella in that). 

When Kennedy and Joey do officially meet, sparks fly, he thinks she looks like a librarian and she thinks he's just an ass. 

You're different," I tell her. "You're like those Sour Patch candies, when one bite is so sweet and the rest is so sour. 

it doesn't take long until your falling in love with the small town of Haven Point and the locals who call it home. I enjoyed the sibling banter between Coen and Joey and loved the fierce protective love Kennedy felt towards her sister (and I'm praying to the book gods that we get her story). I think the author also dealt with mental illness sensitvely as she could've. 

This was such awesome way to kick start the new year off with, new author to me, new characters I enjoyed reading about. So many dimensions to this book, roll over characters, mental illness, likeable relatable characters, definitely a one click recommendation from me!! The only reason this gets marked down a star is towards the end I found it a wee bit rushed.
