♕ KAT'S REVIEW | ARC ♕ Inked Souls (The Shaw Effect Duet, #1) by Lucia Grace

INKED SOULS BY LUCIA GRACE
TITLE: INKED SOULS
AUTHOR: Lucia Grace
GENRE: Romance
PUBLICATION: August 10th, 2017
Life has been lonely for Kennedy James. A product of foster care, she's never had a family, she's never known love, she's never been wanted. So, as she gets older and her looks get her the attention she's always craved, she takes it.

No matter the consequences.

After another failed attempt at finding what she's always longed for--to be loved--she leaves the only town she's ever known and swears off men so she can find herself.

But what happens when a rough and crass tattoo artist is exactly what she needs?

A past riddled with loss and neglect haunts Rhett Shaw, his younger sister his only remaining family. Because of his past he only allows meaningless one night stands to warm his bed, never forming a connection, barely learning their names. He prefers it that way so he doesn't open himself up to more hurt.

Something he's felt enough in his lifetime.

He's content in his life. He has his sister, his tattoo shop, and enough women to keep him satisfied.

But what happens when an angel on earth is delivered to heal his inked soul?

INKED SOULS: is the first book within the (Shaw Effect Duet) by Lucia Grace and is a full-length romance novel with a HEA which is spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.' In this we meet 'Rhett Shaw and Kennedy James'

After getting kicked in the teeth one too many times Kennedy James decides to take life by the balls and packs up her car and leaves town in search of a new beginning, one where her past doesn’t catch up with her. She’s done with being used and abused then discarded.

Only having waitressing and bar tending under her belt her search is on hunting down a job as soon as she arrives in town that day. It must be her lucky day because she was hired on the spot at 'In Ruins' the local bar, and given a roof over her head with a shared room in a two bedroom apartment by the bubbly female that hired her. Things just might be looking up.
Sunvale is my fresh start, my new beginning where I no longer let men determine my self worth.
Her first shift at the bar her eyes land on the most sexiest man her eyes have ever clapped on, both feel the magnetic pull, only Kennedy doesn't want to go down that track again where she lets a man in her life to only be discarded once he's finished with her. But she's never encountered Rhett before, he's relentless in his pursuit of her and makes it known that he's not going to give up.

It took weeks to break down her defences but once he didn't he wasn't going to let her go.
There's something about her that calls out to me.

Pushing thirty Rhett is the gorgeous tatted up local tattoo artist in town, as long as he can remember he's always had a sketch pad at hand losing himself in his creations, but when he lost his parents at a young age and having to step up and look after his sister sketching became his one and only outlet.

Kennedy never had the privilege of knowing either of her parents, being abandoned at the hospital the day she was born she was placed in foster care, thrown around the system from one family to the next, never knowing what it was to be loved.

This was a really enjoyable sweet filled read, the only reason why I'm rating this 4 stars and not 5 is the main female heroine just had so much self destructive dealt that hindered me fully connecting with her character. It just became monotonous reading over her inner dialogues about being used, abused and discarded, but now and then we'd get a glimpse of her sucking up her inner strength and building on that.
